Relief International – Bam, Iran

Country: Bam-Iran

With GCF grant Relief International established two computer centers in Mehran and Sina as part of their response to devastating December 2003 earthquake. These computer centers, housed in community centers also constructed by RI, are still used today. They are staffed by members of the local community, and offer training in computer literacy and Internet use. Trainings cover basic computer literacy, and offer classes in Word, Excel and Windows. Computer classes have proven popular with community members, and demand is growing. Relief Internationals Internet Centers offer community members a chance to gain important job skills, increase literacy, and connect to the outside world.
